Home Education
Under UK law a parent has the duty to educate their child by sending them to school, âor otherwiseâ. Home education is fully legal, and you donât need permission (except in Scotland, or if your child is registered at a Special School but this does not included statemented children). Home education is a fast growing movement internationally. In the UK almost 2% of children are estimated to be educated at home by family choice.
A respite period can be very helpful in de-stressing from a school situation that is not working, or some families opt for a longer term lifestyle. A family can choose to use structured lessons and tests, or not, as suits the individual child. Minimum costs are about the same as âschool extras.â Research shows socialisation, qualifications and a later career are all highly successful.
