MAGNOLIA GRAFFITI

REVIEW OF 'MAGNOLIA GRAFFITI BY SEAN BW PARKER

Sean Parker

The book travels the journey from Prison to probation and the engagement with a society which the author considers treated him unjustly. The title is derived from the room colour of his cell at HMP Dartmoor (originally grey). Successive prisoners had embarked on graffiti exposing the magnolia underneath.\Surely a metaphor for greyness which clouds justice in this country.

The book is a dichotomy has it serves as a memoir to his innocence and experience and a damning critique of the British legal system. Nothing is spared in this raw account of a man  who looses his liberty on being falsely accused and the stigma of being punished for crimes he has not committed .So called police targets and statistics come under scrutiny ,the collusion of various dimensions of the  media  in the UK. and the enigmatic court  machinery and terminology used  to maintain these so called ‘targets’

The book is a tribute to anyone falsely accused and calls on the reform of a system which disempowers the innocent.
